About paying for therapy, and insurance
The fee is due at the start of your visit. My usual fee is $150 for a 50-minute session. Please bring it with you: I don’t like to give credit, because being borrower and lender harms our ability to talk openly together.
I accept cash happily. There are ATMs around here.
I accept checks.
I accept major credit cards: namely American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.
I accept insurance when I can. I’m not in network with the major managed care companies but I’ll work as an out-of-network provider with any company that’s willing to work with me. On your first visit here, you may need to pay the full fee but if your health plan decides to reimburse for the therapy, the reimbursement goes back into your pocket.
I can provide free psychotherapy (paid for by the State) if your health problem is the result of a violent crime such as domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking or drunk driving, and if the circumstances qualify under the relevant Government Code sections. Ask me for more information on this scheme.
